Funmi Iyanda Honors Governor Fashola With Valedictory Change-A-Life Show

The annual January 1st Change-A-Life TV special took place on New Years Day. This edition was the valedictory show for His Excellency, Barr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), the Lagos State Governor, in appreciation for his consistent support for Change-a-life over for the past 8 years.

The show, as usual, was hosted by Funmi Iyanda, Founder of Change-A-Life, with Mr Dele Momodu, the Publisher of Ovation International as the co-host. The special guest was Major General Olukolade of the Nigerian Army.

Bisi Alimi On Coming Out Gay In Nigeria, Death Threats and Living With HIV

Gay activist, Bisi Alimi may be based in London but remains one of the most prominent Nigerians fighting for homosexuals to be accepted back home. He recently took the fight to social media, using a picture of his white boyfriend to pass a message saying “love is love.”

Bisi Alimi described his boyfriend as the “best gift from life in a very long time”, and in a new interview with NPR, he opens up on the challenges of living as a gay Nigerian man, living with the HIV, and his relationship with his immediate family members.

Bisi, who was diagnosed with HIV in 2004 and came out as gay in 2007, says he's happy about the new Nigerian anti-gay law and it gives him hope. You can read excerpts from the interview below...

Olufunmilola Aduke Iyanda (born 27 July 1971), better known as Funmi Iyanda, is an award-winning broadcaster, journalist, columnist and blogger. She produced and hosted Nigeria’s most popular and authoritative talk show New Dawn with Funmi, which aired on the national network for over eight years.

Funmi is the CEO of Ignite Media, a content-driven media organization operating out of Lagos. In 2011, she was honoured as a Young Global Leader (YGL) by the World Economic Forum and was recently named one of Forbes 20 Youngest Power Women in Africa.
